Welcome to HDCC 208: Digital Storytelling

Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story of that man skilled in all ways of contending, the wanderer, harried for years on end, after he plundered the stronghold on the proud height of Troy.

~Homer: The Odyssey

Welcome to the class blog for HDCC 208: Digital Storytelling! This site will play an integral part in our exploration of how stories are told in the digital age and why it storytelling matters. Here you will find the course policies, a schedule of the readings and assignments, and details regarding the major assignments for the course.

More importantly than the above, however, is the role this blog will play in fostering discussion and intellectual exchange within the medium we are studying. Over the course of the semester you will each contribute to this blog offering your insights and analysis along the way.

However, before you can post to the blog, you need to create a WordPress.com account (this is different from your WordPress portfolios, so the same account won’t work). To create your WordPress account follow the instructions below.

  1. Visit WordPress.com and once there, click on the “Create Website” button at the center of the screen.
  2. Follow the instructions to create a WordPress account (you will be creating a blog in the process, but ignore that for now).
  3. Verify your account with WordPress (respond to the email WordPress sends you)
  4. Email me and let me know the email address you used to setup your account so I can add you as an author of the blog.

If you have any questions or something doesn’t work right, send me an email and we’ll work it out.

I look forward to working with each of you over the coming semester!
